The main raw material for Cultilene is stonewool. Stonewool is very reliable and due to its limited energy consumption, environmentally friendly. Cultilene is one of the world's leading substrate producers. They have a great reputation in the industry as a company that puts the grower first.

This rockwool features
-Continuous factory monitored air-to-water ratio
-Reliable homogeneity
-High strength and dimensional stability
-Excellent controllability
-They are inert and free of pathogens

3” blocks have a 1.5” pre-cut hole and available is strips of 8. Cellophane wrapped at the factory for cleanliness.
Can be purchased separately as well

New stone wool from Holland is a great value with excellent quality!

Growing crops is and remains a natural process. We are of course subservient to the laws of nature, although we consider it a challenge to continually bend them or stretch them out. Every grower has its own customs, methods and often even trade secrets.
For an optimum growing result, the slabs must be positioned on a flat surface that has a slight fall, to allow them to drain rapidly and easily

Drain holes
Well functioning drain holes are of the greatest importance, as the excess water must be able to drain from the slab. Therefore, pay considerable attention when making the holes.
-Make the drain holes prior to planting;
-The best position for the drain holes: between the plants and at the lowest point of the slab;
-The vertical drain holes must be at least 3 cm long. Horizontal drain holes (for rose cultivation) must be 10 – 15 cm long and be repeated every 50 – 60 cm. Fray the sides of the holes somewhat, so that they cannot easily clog up.

When the blocks are positioned on the slabs, for the first few days they must be watered frequently to speed up the growth of the roots into the slab.
As soon as the roots have developed well into the slab, the water supply can be adjusted.
From this stage adhere to the following rules:
-Regularly check the volume of water being drained;
-Start watering when evaporation has started. Stop watering at least 2 hours before sunset. On dark days even earlier. The time to stop is among other things dependent on the weather, the crop and the chosen watering strategy;
-Whether additional water is needed in the evening or night depends on the circumstances. However, it is recommended if the slab dries out too much during the night;
During the dark period, the EC will increase due to the accumulation of nutrients. Try to avoid this by flushing these nutrients from the slab by supplying more water during the hottest period of the day, possibly with a lower EC.

Higher water content:
-Less water each time, higher frequency;
-Higher watering frequency;
-Start earlier;
-Stop later;
-Watering at night.

Lower water content
-More water each time, lower frequency;
-Lower watering frequency;
-Start later;
-Stop earlier;
-No watering at night.

Higher EC in the slab;
-Higher EC input;
-Less water each time;
-Less drain.

Lower EC in the slab:
-Lower EC input;
-More water each time;
-More drain.

A common aspect of all Cultilène stonewool variants is that they function as a large water buffer. A unique property of our rockwool is that it also easily releases water to the plant. This serves both the grower and the plant the best.

In our stonewool, every drop of water is continually available to the plant, while other substrates that bind water release it less easily to the plant.
The scientifically determined air-to-water ratio is accurately adhered to during the production and continually checked.
Cultilène attaches great value to this air-to-water ratio. This controllability is Cultilène’s top priority: you must be in charge of your greenhouse to be able to completely control the process, and that is only possible if the slabs you use react effectively and therefore predictably to your actions.
Bearing controllability in mind, we are also concerned with the homogeneity of our stonewool. After all, this property must guarantee unobstructed and regular root growth under uniform circumstances. Only then are you able to precisely control the water and nutrient supply and so aim for optimal yield.
The smaller the margin between the measurement points, the more homogenous the substrate. This homogeneity also applies to the uniform distribution of water and air throughout the slab. Cultilène also scores well in this respect.
However uniform the substrate may be, the performance and controllability of the slab are in part dependent on a number of other factors:
-The surface on which the slab lies must be flat and provided with sufficient fall for drainage (otherwise wet and dry spots can occur in the slabs);
-The supply from the drips must be uniform, it makes no sense to combine homogenous slabs with non-homogenous drips;
-Of course, differences in growing rates will also result in differences in uptake.

All Cultilène substrate products are known for their functional strength. The strength of the mineral wool is accurately tailored per product to the intended life of the product and (in particular) the intended application.
Without exception, our slabs, plugs and blocks are so strong that the structure remains the same throughout the entire intended life of the product, which means that optimum controllability is retained.
Due to the strength of our slabs, the structure remains intact throughout the whole intended life of the product, which means that optimum controllability is retained.
The strength also results in greater dimensional stability in all circumstances. This simplifies, among other things, mechanical handling. Furthermore, the dimensional stability of the Cultilène blocks and slabs guarantees maximum contact between slab and block.

This means that:
-The roots have more opportunity to grow from the block into the slab;
-The block stands more steadily on the slab;
